I’ve have a 1996 CBR 600 which in at attempt to put it on the centre stand, I decided last minute that I’d rather throw the bike on its side, and dive over it myself into the side wall of my house, if that wasn’t enough I then landed back on top of it, on all its sticky-out bits, further making sure it was fully connected with my concrete driveway, turns out it was, and it didn’t get up, and boy it hurt !
Anyway, I reckon my bruises will heal but I need to get hold of a fairing sticker to replace the single piece that Honda seemed to position to connect with the ground, but this bike is 23 years old, and I’m guessing they’re out of production now, can anyone help with where I might get these ?

Many Thanks

Does it help if you search online for "decal" rather than "sticker"?

Thank you for the pointer, yes, I’ve been trying various wording, just struggling for this particular piece. I’ll try Honda tomorrow, I might be lucky Smile

If I knew the part number, I'm sure I'd have a better chance, perhaps honda can help me with this, even if they can't get the part ?

I suspect Honda's thinking was it would be better to scrape up a replaceable sticker than the paint work!

yep, having over the 23 years now dropped it on both sides I can confirm that the same sticker on both sides makes perfect contact with the ground, I've previously replaced the one on the left side.

.... and, having found hopefully the right part number, 64311MAL900ZA on ebay, it's on order, and on it's way from France, cost about £14 posted, happy with that

must be more careful next time !

I still have my old CBR600 and I had to replace loads of the plastics and decals nearly 20 years ago.

I used to park the bike right under the statue of Edward VII in Waterloo Place. There used to be a motorcycle bay either side of the statue, although it’s now been tarted up and the bays are gone. You can still find photos of what it looked like online and there’s a brief glimpse of it in the opening scenes of 28 Days Later when he’s walking through abandoned London.

Anyway I returned to the bay one evening to find my bike looked like someone had taken a sledgehammer to the fairings. All smashed on both sides. There was half a crumpled note stuck under the handlebars that said “Sorry I hit your bike…..” then looked like the rest of the message had been torn off. My best guess is that a car driver knocked it getting into one of the adjacent car spaces and it fell onto its side. THEN…. And this is why I doubt it was a biker… it seems they attempted to pull it upright again by holding onto the fairing and pulling up. That went as well as you can imaging.

Result was severe damage to both sides. I needed to replace both sides of the top fairing and buy the decals for the top and one side. Cost a few pennies. And no CCTV from any of the fancy gentlemen’s clubs or establishments either side. Bummer.

Oh and I also did the same centre stand manoeuvre as you, but with a CB500 and at a petrol station in front of loads of amused onlookers. The shame was worse than the pain.

For finding part numbers I normally head for Fowlers of similar to look through the microfilms. However finding stock for parts of this vintage is never that easy.

Cheers Thumbs Up
