hi there

My Cg is burning a bit of oil, only know by looking at the dip stick; it's not belching out the exhaust....yet.

Anyway,

I know the piston rings are out of tolerance.

do you NEED to rehone an iron cylinder in order to install new piston and rings ?

Or just buy and install ?

Thanks
Jamie

Well my GS dropped a valve and smashed the piston. I just bought a new piston and rings (and a valve) and fitted them. It runs fine (even with a huge dent in the cylinder head from where the valve dug in) Laughing

Depends on the state of the cylinder.

Personally I would buy or hire a honing tool for the job, might as well do it properly and be sure.
