Hello,

The fuel pump doesnt start when turning the ignition on, it takes 5-6 turns of the ignition switch to get the fuel pump to kick in.

The battery on the bike is fully charge at 12.7V and when bike is running its 14V at 5k revs.

When the bike does try and start the revs go up to 1-2k then drops off and the bike cuts out. The bike will start but takes a couple of goes.

What i can check?.

thanks

Without a look at the wiring diagrqm, I would suspect the ignition. They generally have multiple connection lines inside.

You could also look at the pump relay.

I have a manual here in me grubby mitts
It's electro/mechanically the same as a stock YBR EFI
and doesn't have a fuel pump relay.
The only relay on the bike is the one that dims the headlight
during startup cranking

The fuel pump is powered at turn on by a supply common to other devices coil, horn etc and It's grounded via the ECU.

'Owner improvements' could well be the cause

Thanks, what do you mean by owner improvements?

Sometimes the bike would start up without the fuel pump kicking in but just dies straight after, i presume thats becuase the fuel pump hasnt kicked in.

When the fuel pump kicks in the bike stays running.

Ive been reading that there is a common problem with the fuel pump if the bike is in direct sunlight, which the bike was today.

Started fine in the morning ride to work, parked in direct sunlight all day, bike wouldnt start after work.

Ive tried to bike 20 times tonight in the cool and the fuel pump has kicked in on every turn of the ignition and started fine once.(Need to keep the neighbours from moaning)

So the bike has been in the direct sun in the garden (Hot Tank) and its hot here now and the fuel pump wont kick in again.

So do i make a heat shield for the tank or buy another fuel pump (Second Hand) which could do the same thing! Rolling Eyes

Ive seen that thread Jaffa, thanks.

I think i will change the pump not for a old used pump but for a new one.

Pump wouldnt start at all today in the hot sun 28c. Its got cooler now and the pump kicks in 80% of the time.

Checked the volatge going to the pump on the connector - was 4.9v one connection, other connection was 11v the after the engine light goes out was 6v.
