Fuel Pump Issues on a HOT day

After some googling I found that the fuel pump on my Yamaha YBR 125 Custom has a history of not working when things get to hot....

I today.

My bike was parked in direct sun light for about 2 hours. Not long but it would not start. I noticed the pump was not priming and after the google search I the hose pipe out and sprayed the tank for 5 mins or so to cool it off and the pump came back to life and sounded fine.

Stopped at tesco on the way home, parked in the shade but when I came out it was pumping but it sounded really rough. I had to walk the rest of the way home (less than half a mile).
I left the bike parked in the shade for a few hours to cool off but the fuel pump sound really bad. Its not a smooth sound. Starts off fine but then struggles and stops.

I will try it again in the morning and see how it is.

I read that people have had the pump work fine once it has cooled off as its a temp sensor that is the issue?? But I dont think a temp sensor would cause the pump to sound bad and not run right.

Whats your thoughts on this?

I can get a new pump for around £20 on ebay or the whole assembly for £80+

Is the pump damaged by the heat some how?

Just buy a 20 quid facet copy and replace it.

I'd be surprised if the pump is in the tank so spraying it with water wouldn't really achieve a lot.

Hmm, fowlers says the pump is in the tank. That's a bit of a shitter.

Well, Today the fuel pump is a-ok.

Sound perfectly fine and runs no problems.. STUPID HEAT!

Is it still worth replacing it?

I could do with out the expense but needs must.

But if its just heat that's the issue I will leave it for now and get it sorted in a month or two

Apparently it's a PITA to fit, so I find myself just covering the tank when the bikes parked up for prolonged periods

The bike seems to be ok again today, Will have to park it in the shade when at work.

I might fit the new pump next week if need be.

But wont this issue happen with the new pump? Wheres this temp sensor that's causing all this fuss?!

Sounds like the tank pressurises, and the pump cannot kick in due to the pressure.
It shouldn’t happen, as I suggest the tank breather (possibly in the cap,) is the culprit, find it and clean it.

If it was a pressure issue then taking the fuel cap off would allow the bike to start?
