Good evening my UK friends, I am a flemish motorcycle enthusiast. I will start mechanics evening school in 3 weeks and decided to pick up a cheap 125t(2) of 1979.
However my fingers are itching and I want to get riding soon so I won't be able to wait untill lessons begin. While doing general check ups on the sparkers I noticed that there were sparkers fitted that didn't belong there. The previous Owner shoved springs in the sparker opening and brutely tore one in doing so. I do not know if you can see it in the picture below, but a little piece of spring is stuck in the cilinder. Can someone give me good advice on how to get it out? I am a little bit hesitant on tearing it out with some pliers, don't want to break anything.

Thank you in advance!!

Sounds like a helicoil that has been put in to replace a stripped thread.

Possibly, only problem is that it wasn't done as it should have, so it is just waiting beyond reach in the sparker hole.. I can't update a picture since its too big. Is there no way to reach the other side of the sparker hole without opening the entire engine. I am not keen on opening too much since I might cause more damage.
Do you think it could find a way to the pistons?

Thank you for the quick response allready!

It's supposed to stay there and be a replacement thread.

Sounds like the helicoil has failed, or not been put in properly, shame , they can be a good repair. Perhaps you could get the helicoil out with a pair of thin long nosed pliers, pulling the stray end out and then carefully unwinding it out of the hole. Then you could replace the helicoil with something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/BGS-Thread-Repair-Insert-8650-1/dp/B01N08HYSR/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=spark+plug+insert&qid=1567016523&quartzVehicle=138-258&replacementKeywords=plug+insert&s=automotive&sr=1-6
For example.

For example. OK 10mm probably isn't the right size , but shows the idea.

Seems like a good plan. My mom is a doctor, I believe she has this kind of equipment as well (the players, not the helicoil). I'll keep you guys updated on my progress. Thanks!
