				| I recommend you go to the Vosage South instead. The B500 is ok but it's full of feds, good chance of a hefty fine if you manage to get enough speed up for the traffic.
Hardly anyone goes to the Vosage South, there are loads of good roads and minimal traffic. Go out in the morning, get good and lost, stop somewhere for lunch then find your way back again.

You're still close enough to do the B500 as a day trip (and it is, frankly, one days riding).

				| In fairness, the place I stayed was a bit meh. Also more North than South. I'd do it differently next time and the above is what I'd do but I don't have a specific site in mind.
The B500 was a nice road but yeah, a bit busy and police-dense. Was talking to someone on the ferry on the way back who was stopped then escorted to a cash machine in Baden-Baden to get his speeding fine, apparently they'd have kept his bike if he couldn't cover it there and then.

				| I think the police presence on the B500 must be variable. I saw one cop car when I did it. And oncoming drivers were flashing me warnings of his presence. And there was very little other traffic
However, there are also many other fun biking roads off to either side of the B500. Surfaces are generally good too. Be sure to explore a few! All you're gonna see is trees anyway

				| I've ridden the B500 3 times and never seen a police car. All of those rides have been in September which might make a difference.
Hotel wise , a lot of UK peeps head to Pension Williams in Seebach which is practically on the B500. It's run by a UK couple. I've never stayed there myself so can't comment.

The most popular stretch of the B500 is Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt. It's very good but it's not the police that pissed me off, it was the meandering car drivers taking in the scenery. Get up very early and ride it, thats what I did. Like 7am.

However don't neglect the bottom half of the B500 leading to Switzerland. I rode it in 2017 and it was superb.

 I stayed at: https://www.traube-waldau.de/

Good value and the owner offered to let me keep my bike in his personal garage. Nice place.

Getting away from the B500, switch off the sat nav and explore. The area never disappoints.

				| Baden Baden is a pretty dull place to spend a night. It’s a bit too posh and there’s not much to see. I’d recommend Heidelberg slightly further north as it has a lovely old town and castle with loads of restaurants and bars
If you do decide to stop in Baden Baden, the Hotel Athos is good value for money, pretty comfortable and has garaging available. Unfortunately their excellent Greek restaurant has closed down.

				| stayed in wolfach half way down the B500, josenhof hotel... apartment type situation with like 3 euro breakfast... very good digs and gave us a little barn to keep the bikes in.
also didn't see a single copper on the entire trip.

nor have I ever seen a copper in the black forest ever in all the times I've passed through. saw a cop car parked up by a bus stop in rotweil one time though.
