I'm doing the Ron Haslem race school in a few days and quite looking forward to it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my track day at Brands in the summer on the Aprilia RSVR, certainly brought a few things to the forefront to do with body position, lines and even braking or the lack of braking in my instance.

Hopefully I can get a few pointers and be at ease a little more.

Anyone done this school?

I'm eyeing up another track day at Snetterton next month so I may get to put any learnt behaviour to the test.

Is there any point in asking opinions if it's already booked?

I've heard it's ok, they cover what you want to cover, but it's not as detailed nor as useful for racing as the full 4 levels of CSS.

I have done it, although my experience may not be that relevant as it was (shit, SERIOUSLY?!) 20 years ago.

It was my first time on a track and first time on a sports bike (CBR 600F-Sport). As I recall it was good for me, good instruction and a decent track. I have two clear memories from it:

1) Towards the end of the day, I thought I was really getting a move on. Hanging off, letting the bike move about under braking - I was really on it. Then, as I was exiting Redgate going as fast as possible, Ron Haslam himself came past me. On a CB500. On the back wheel. With a pillion.

2) Despite this, and despite it being my first time on a sporty bike, I came top of the group I was in (as scored by the instructors). I was dead chuffed.

Would gladly have another go.

The CSS is something I'd be interested in doing next year.

Opinions? Its always going to vary depending on the person and situation.

Even if tosh and dont get out of it what I hoped, I would have had half a track day at a new track and on a new bike? It's not until you get photos back of what you actually look like compared to how you perceive yourself you can start to learn and hopefully change. I could have booked a track day on my own bike again and had the same mistakes, same issues and never been made aware of how it can be improved. I'm certainly not after being a fast track rider or a racer, I want to be comfortable and smooth at speed, hopefully this session will provide it for me?

Remember No Limits offer free instruction too.

Personally, I'd do a few trackdays first and see how you improve with them and decide what aspects need work on etc.
