Eeeeeeeeeee! Gouge out my eyes Evil or Very Mad

Wrong tank, wrong seat, wrong wheels, the list goes on. I hope it was cheap!

Is the light above the number plate on the nearside not functional? As far as removing the indicators I suppose you could suggest it makes the bike "look" older Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I mean why even bother? Anyhoo, AFAIK you can only get away with that sort of shit on either a real vintage bike that was never manufactured with indicators or a moped (i.e. <50cc.)

As far as fixing? Depends how much they've stripped out... probably everything by the looks of it Sad Which means adding back in switches, clock bulbs, indicator lamps, all the associated wiring etc.

Oh, and you might want to add some mirrors Wink

Or you could save some time and just burn it Cool

Sell it and buy a bike that has all of it's original parts. If it were a £10,000 cafe racer it might be worth it, but it's worth about £800 standard, so that's probably worth a LOT less. Hope you didn't pay too much for it!!

One of the first rules on buying 2nd hand bikes.

Unless you absolutely like the modifications and after market bits on a bike, go for bog standard. Never ever pay extra for a modded bike, the chances you will never come close to getting your money back when you come to sell it on.

In this case, sorry, your were seen coming. Sell and buy a bog standard bike. Thumbs Up

I was going to say it'd be nice to have a before and after photo to play a game of "Spot the Difference" but we'll have to make do...

Quite possibly but ....
Does it run and ride OK?, was it really cheap? in which case maybe not.

Do you have tools and like/want to learn how to use them. If you are prepared to do some research and find out which parts of the bike are/were copies of old suzuki gn/gs 125 or Honda CG 125 you should be able to build it back to how you want it.

Research parts online, check dimensions where possible but there should be a multitude of cheap parts. Even cheaper if you can wait. On Amazon or Ebay if the part is Chinese (probably it will be) and delivery time is low there will be same part available there or somewhere else at a fraction of the price with a month or so delivery, which will be shipped on the back of a snail from China. So far everything I have ordered from China (not just bike bits) has got to me, wouldn't risk bigger expensive things though as Customs may take an interest and sting you for money.

Probably not a daily commuter just yet Shocked

Nobody on the forum is going to know the ins and outs of whatever has gone on with that bike but if you ask general questions, show you have done some investigation and post pictures should get guidance.

Pretty much certain it won't be cost effective to pay someone else to do this for you at this point. Doing it yourself and learning stuff is the light at the end of tunnel.

Step one. Do a list of good and bad.
Wheels, tyres, brakes, engine ..... if enough things are on good side then you can flip this into a positive life experience ("that was the winter I learned about bikes").

That is how I would look at it, I don't know enough about your background though, all of the above may be a pile of complete wank in your situation and you may be screaming at screen right now.

I'm seeing so much stuff like this, take an 800 quid commuter, chop the back off, lose the mudguards, turn the handlebars upside down, and call it a cafe racer (or if it's rusty, a brat) for £1500-2000. People must be buying them though.

Assuming this isn't a sock puppet account post carefully designed to trigger half the forum... Yes, you bought a lemon. It's an absolute abortion of a motorcycle and will likely give you nothing but trouble. It's been done to try to replicate the "brat" style customs like the one you see in the "The girl who..." films. However, it's been done by an idiot without any regard for functionality and legality.

It has no mudguards and no airbox. If you try to ride it on wet roads, you'll get soaked and the rear wheel will spray dirty water directly into the air filter.

As it was made after 1986 and is not an off road bike, it needs indicators to pass an MOT and to be on the road. It also requires a brake light activated by seperate two brake light switches.

Looks like it also has an illegal silver on black numberplate.

The front mudguard would normally incorporate a pressed steel fork brace so while the mudguard is not mandatory, it ought to fail an MOT without the brace.

No chain guard.

It'll handle like a piece of shit because the forks have been slammed a good 2" through the yokes, the suspension will probably bottom out over bumps.

Not sure but part of the subframe may have been angle-ground off.

I'm going to guess the exhaust has also been messed with and that it runs like a bag of shite because it hasn't ben set up for the air filter and exhaust mods.

So can it be sorted?

Yes, but it'll take a bit of work. At a minimum, I would set the forks back where they are supposed to be so it goes round corners, fit some sort of chain guard and get a couple of mudguards on it. Otherwise I'd say it's pretty much unrideable in anything but dry, sunny conditions.

You will probably get away with riding it like that until the next MOT even though there is a laundry list of construction and use issues (I won't be self-riteous about it, my bikes don't exactly conform either).

New numberplate, set of flashers, brake light will all be needed for an MOT.

Then there is insurance to consider. It is heavily modified from standard so you'd need to declare the modifications. That will be pricey.

Technically, if they cut the subframe off, it counts as a radically altered vehicle and should have an MSVA test and a Q-plate...

If it was me, I'd chuck a match in the tank and push it off a cliff, just to be sure.

Punt it on ebay, part it out or keep an eye out for a write-off going cheap that needs the engine/cycle parts you already have.

Why? The length of the forks has not been altered. The travel will be the same. Do you mean "the tyre could hit the bottom yoke"?

By doing that it changes the angle of attack at the front. Basically dropping more weight down to the front too.

Does this bike have an MOT?
Did you even check how difficult it would be to insure a modified bike?

On the plus side the chain and sprockets look to be good and the subframe can't be bent because the fucker's been cut off.

I can see that it will make the forks more vertical, but that will reduce the compressing force when hitting a bump (it will increase flexing), so that should make them less likely to bottom out.

The wheelbase will be slightly reduced, but by a small amount. What's that going to add to the front, all else being equal? very little. A kilo? Two kilos?

Something, as it goes, that's regularly done on bikes already considered sporty to make them handle more sharply (which is considered better for many.)

£400 for polished turd - a hell of a lot better than the people asking £8k for heavier just as impractical polished turds that so many drool over "at the bike shed" etc.

I'd budget another £400 to "make right" + time and effort... to end up with a bike that's worth £800 Smile

As there is no front mudguard, it'll be the front wheel that twats the front light and locks up before the forks bottom out.

If it's like other 125s, I'd be more worried about ground clearance on the standard pegs.

28 bids and it sold for £565.00 so I'd say the best thing to do with it is to sell it.
