Had a bit of a search, but didn’t yield much other than my post of a similar question a year ago.

I’ve had 2 bikes for years now. A 650 supermoto that I use as my road bike. And a 125ish road legal pit bike that I use when I just want to pop out for milk or similar and can’t be faffed with the mugs game that is car travel😁.
No bicycles in my household I’m allergic to pedalling.

However I’m seriously considering selling the pit in favour of an Electricaly assisted pedal bike, or maybe even an adults scooter such as the ninebot or or similar (despite the legality issues still present). But this isn’t really the route I wanted to go down. Despite it needing Insurance and road tax, MOT etc. the weirdo in me would still rather pick the hard route and convert the pit to an electric road vehicle that can manage 40mph, with about 20mile distance ability. Maybe on a budget of £800 or less

3000w 96v? I’ve no idea tbh

Presuming nobody’s made a bolt on Lifan style motor setup yet. Does anyone have any pointers/experience of brands, voltages, wattages, RPMs etc. Or any advise or experience they’d care to share with electric vehicles so far?

Other than strapping another battery to the base of a child’s electric scooter to run it at 36v instead of 24. And replacing some 26650’s on a sea scooter. (Which I’ve yet to finish) my experience is quite limited.

Thanks

That’s nice. And certainly worth considering but £2300 seems quite a bit although I appreciate the cost of all those 18650’s. I guess it’s got all the bits I’d need. Although I may enquire for a price without the wheels/motor and perhaps less battery’s for shorter trips. Seems silly to me changing the whole wheel when there’s going to be plenty of space for a motor after the engine has been removed. See how the price lays.
Wonder how fast.

Any thoughts on this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232982359486

If your budget is £800 you're not going to convert a pitbike. That motor and controller is nice and all but it's going to need a massive battery pack to drive it (i.e. not off-the-shelf and cheap, hand made) plus all the welding to mount shit up and all.

For £800 you can make a decent eBike that does 30 to 35 mph. If you're not worried about the legalities of powered scooters an eBike at least gives some plausible deniability.

Any push bike you like (ideally mountain bike with chunky rims so you can fit decent sized road tyres) + 48V off the shelf battery + 1500W rear hub motor. >30mph and 20 mile range for an afternoon's work Smile
