Firstly , Hi!
I have had my TZR for a while and since i got it , it does 50MPH. But the funny thing is it does no more even down a hill . The previous owner said he derestricted it but it does not sound like it to me . The yamaha dealers say that it is a good top speed for a 50. But i know that my mates bikes can do 60 - 70 (XR6) . So i was wondering does anyone know what i need to do to derestrict it cause the dealer doesnt normally deal with 50cc and they said if i can find out what to do and what parts to change they can fit it for me .
So what things should be done and then i can check weither they have been done????
Also does anyone know what speeds this bike can go fully derestricted????

Thank You Thumbs Up

Big bore it and put a race pipe on, then change the sprockets for more top end if required.

Its already been derestricted, if it was restricted it would be doing 30mph Shocked

Thats bullshit mate im afraid. The Aprilia RS50 will do about 60 and thats the most you will get from a 50cc. There clocks will be over reading.

Plus the TZR50 is heavier than the standard TZR125.

Your TZR is about 20-25KGs heavier than your mates bike, plus you might be heavier aswell. Its quite a large weight for a 50cc. And like said there is the accuracy of the speedos. Fact is the TZRs are slower than other 50ccs, to improve it you are going to have to fit a bore kit, race exhaust etc. It isnt worth spending the money if you arent keeping it very long, 50mph is still respectable and will get you where you want to be.

Fighting talk! Razz

True really my tzr is a bit dated looking, but the fact is that there is loads of parts for the 125 on ebay for pennies when there is none for the 50 Smile

Cheers ! Thumbs Up
I have found out firstly my speedo wont show more then 50mph so i can sort that out . I am getting new sprockets to get a bit more top end out of it . My bike can out accelerate a RS50 and XR6 just that high speed which annoy me but i guess if you recon he is talking out of his arse then i will have to ask him to prove it . LOL.
Can anyone sugest a good exhuast which looks nicer and is bgger then the standard TZR on ??? With a weblink is POS .

www.ve-uk.com i believe that the arrow exhaust fits correctly. Or go to www.scooterzonetuning.co.uk and look at the moto-hispania RX50 - same engine and exhaust is compatible. Alternatively give www.af1racing.com a try for the Arrow Minarelli exhausts for 50cc. BTW - if you're fitting new sprockets to improve top end speed, you'll be sacrificing a substantial amount of acceleration. There's some key on af1racing that shows like the appropriate sprockets for associated max speeds, don't know the authenticity nor accuracy. of the speeds, but use it as a rough guide.

Hope this helps.

Size is essensial when it comes to 2 stroke exhausts.
You cant say "I want a big exhaust" Or "I want a small" exhaust. They are made a certain size for a certain performance.

Arrow do pipes for most 2 strokes... www.taffspeed.co.uk might have a derestriction guide although im sure he only works on mopeds (scooters)

Your really not going to get that out of a 50cc, not without spending a fortune, just wait a year and get a 125, you guys are hoping to get 60-70, well my 125 does that when restricted and it was cheap and is a bag of shite.

So just wait for a 125.

I know it’s harsh but I had the same when I had a 50, trying to work out why it is slow when it cost so much.
I had a RX50 when I was 16, it did 61mph derestricted.
Not sure where you are from but Yamaha dealer Dave Parry Cheltenham had a load of those in and were not impressed by the lack of performance for such a rated bike. 01242 230403.
They would tune the thing for you, speak to Rob in the work shop.
I think the K&N would not make it go any faster, a full exhaust system would make it sound better but it wont make any difference to performance because of the electronics.

If it were me I’d sell that for good money and get and older sport 50 then spent the rest on mod’s.

cheers again guys . I aint expecting much and am not going to spend a lot on it . BTW the sprockets are only one tooth more on the front and the garage recon that it would do about 5mph more . I think i will get a airfilter and arrow exhuast . Yeh that idea about getting a 125cc is what i am hoping to do . I think i will also cut that wire on the speedo thanks for that forum thing btw.
Cheers again . I wil post some links of the pics of its with its race rep graphics on it btw if anyone is interested.

Not sure there's much you can be to be honest, best is probably a race exhaust, and that's all I'd really do.

Sorry to say it but TZR's are a very slow 50cc to get, my mate has one and i can beat it in 4th gear if i really tear mine up - but i don't.

Just keep it as is for now and get a 125, surely your mates do 60-70 everywhere, and i very much doubt they do that - i'd say about 55-60 in reality.

Should've got a derbi Wink, quickest 50 but shit buildquality

Hi, mate. I have just ordered an Arrow full system exhaust from B and C express www.bandcexpress.com there in Lincoln but you can order them off the site for £160 with free p+p in England. Its a well built system and ive got 73 out of my TZR 50 2004 model on the flat. Best advise is to take it to WEBBS Yamaha in Eye near Peterborough. Big dealer where I got my bike from, really helpfull guys who are interested. Or there is an equally good one in Lincoln.

1. CDI Unit & HT Coil has been changed
2. Arrow Race Exhaust fitted
3. Carb has been re-jetted to accomodate for the exhaust
4. 2 teeth bigger on the front sprocket

he kills me on acceloration and top speed...but that will soon change as im getting my CDI & HT coil done, a race exhaust fitted, New Carb, tachometer or however you spell it( it lets u tinker with the CDI & HT settings when your riding), 1 Tooth bigger on the front sprocket, im lighter than he is and my bike is lighter than his is Very Happy I WIN Cool
