Hi all,

I have ran into a problem with my Hyosung GT125R. The speedo seems to be totally bewitched.
When I turn the bike on and have the lights on the speedo will instantly read speeds of up to 300km/h when I rev the bike a little bit. While driving with the lights on the speedo reads totally random numbers, however as I turn the lights off the speedo will only read 0 km/h.

I was thinking of a faulty speedo sensor however I am unsure because the behaviour of the speedo changes with lights on/off and revs.
If you have any idea what it might be, any help is very much appreciated. The bike is the 2013 model.

Thanks in advance,

Caspar

Has anything electrical been messed with? Change of battery? New bulb in a light somewhere? Has something been removed and then put back on - non electrical things such as a wheel, a fuel tank etc?

Indicators are stock but the previous owner had removed the front ones. It does not look like anything has been messed with, the bike seems to be bone stock. What would be a good way to start trouble shooting, is it possible to measure the speedo sender for example?

Wiring in the front indicators would be the best thing first. It feeds through the dash.

I'd be looking at bad connections and grounding first
by checking/cleaning all related connectors and ensuring all grounds are commoned up.
