 |
|
A friend and myself were discussing bikes/talking shite.
The subject of replacing a wheel on one of his project bikes came up.
The usual route of going down the breakers was touted.
Then we started talking about aftermarket wheels for bikes that are not so prestige.
What’s out there? Would they be expensive? Can you get lighter?
Just asking ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

If you're keeping the hub then any rim you like... although probably best to stick with the same diameter and width ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

1st generation Africa Twin owners are used to having after market rims and spokes fitted to their original wheel hubs. Not for any performance reasons, just because the rims crumble and fall apart with age. I've got two sets in the garage and the rims look like the Elephant Man's knob on the outside, God knows what they look like inside the tyre nowadays.
This is off the net, my old wheels are much worse.

Akront (now made by a company called Morad) used to be the wheel rim of choice for spoked wheels, especially for off road bikes.
Very light, very strong and top drawer quality, although you paid for it.
My XL600R came from the factory with alloy rims by DID, anodised in a rather fetching gold; I think you can still buy them in various sizes.
Marchesini make wheels in various exotic materials, but they are mad money. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........
