Hi,
I am trying to get a new ZX6R insured and its becoming a nightmare... I live in Liverpool and my storage is a shed with two padlocks and an alarm which is in the back yard behind a padlocked gate.. as its not brick built its not being classed as a garage even though its just as secure as a garage in my opinion... regardless, I was wondering if anyone knows of insurance companies that will accept this kind of storage as suitable...
I am being quoted ridiculous amounts (around £1800 comprehensive) even though I am 27 have 4 years NCB and have had my bike licence for nearly 10 years.. am getting annoyed as its holding me back from getting the bike I want, I don't want to settle for second best but I don't want to pay nearly a third of the cost of the bike for just one years insurance!

I pay £320fc for mine. 3 years ncb and licence for 18 months when i bought it. I'm with Carole Nash.
You'll just need to get a copy of MCN and phone every company in there.

Try:

www.insurance200.co.uk

Thats HR Insurance, online quote will give you a rough idea but they done a great deal in my 6R all be it TPFT. Maybe they could do something over the phone with regards to your shed?

Some insurance companies will accept a wooden shed, some won't.
Call them all and see. Thumbs Up

Carole Nash did well for me, getting me a multibike policy for 4 bikes (including ZX9R) for £335.

just rang Carole Nash and they have quoted me £770 fully comp or £700 TPFT

which is less than half of what I was quoted by some places.... am on the right tracks now... I understand that I would struggle to get the price lower because of the Liverpool postcode... but will ring a couple more and quote what Carole Nash quoted me to them and see if they can beat it...
would hate to see what I would be quoted for a ZX10R..
Confused

When I got my quote from CN I phoned a few more companies, including Bennents who I was with. None of them would even match the quote I'd had.
So much for playing one of against another.

www.insurance2000.co.uk do great quotes, I then went to Roadsure (roadsure.ltd.uk) and got the same cover, plus legal and foreign cover stuff thrown in, and they beat the quote from H&R too. I can recomment Roadsure

(in cambridge, bike parked outside on private parking area, 31 yrs old, 0 no claims, 6 points from a bike related CD30 2 years ago, on a '99 thunderace : £675 tpft)

Whoa! Just done a mock insurance quote online with insurance200.co.uk and got quoted only £714 TPFT at 17 on a Bandit. Wooohoo. Can hopefully bring that down lots by ringing lots of companies! Very Happy

That serves you right for living in an 'uber chav' area such as Liverpool Laughing

Nah, just kidding mate. I found Devitt DA was good (i.e. cheap) when I got my bike insured. That was only a little RS125 though. After a few dozen calls to various companies I found that the price got to a set low level and not many of the other companies could beat it.
