I've just rebuild the top end and fired it up for the first time the engine sounds really really diffrent to what it used to before the rebuild. Should it make a diffrent noise straight after a rebuild?

If you have replaced worn out components for some nice new tight stuff, yes, the noise will be different.

I managed to rebuild it but I don't think it's right.

The bike feels and sounds diffrent. obviously due to the recent rebuild I haven't thrashed it about but for one the engine sounds diffrent hard to explain but sort of a more high pitched pop everytime the piston goes up and down.

Also when I go along the revs drop the clutch bites at 5k i take it upto 6k (it can go to 8k) but when the bikes going along the revs drops and the bike loses power.

Also the exhaust is constantly blowing out white smoke with a strong smell of petrol.

It's a 50cc Piaggio NRG.

UPDDATE: If I put my hand underneath the cylinder and exhaust port air is blown onto it which leads me to belive I've got a pretty major airleak. Would the symtoms above go with an airleak?

I think a two stroke bike(I presume it's 2t) may throw a bit of a paddy with a large leak at the exhaust port, my understanding is that gas flow/back pressure or whatever in this region is quiet important so I would guess it's certainly not helping the matter, could even be the main source of the odd sounds you can hear.

Not sure about white smoke, maybe crankseal? I'm unsure to say the least really.

/has zilch nrg knowledge

retorque the head, take the zorst off, fit a new exhaust gasket. Many people try and recycle them but thats asking for trouble esp on a stroker.
