I've been trying out a few different earbuds over the last week on the bike. I've seen various good reviews on memory foam tips, but the ones I had weren't all that comfortable and didn't seal well.
Looked online and found a pack of 12 for £8. No idea if they'll be any better than the ones I already had.

All I really want is something as comfortable as the simple Laser Lite ear plugs that I've got loads of, but that I can listen to a podcast through...........

I cut them down with a knife and then melted a hole through the middle with a paper clip heated over a gas stove.
Had the extractor fan on, cos it gets a but fumey.

Initial tests in the kitchen environment proved they are comfortable and offer some noise suppression.
Not sure when I'll test them on the bike, working from home for the foreseeable future, but I'm pleased so far.
There's no doubt that they'll let more noise in than solid plugs, so I'll see if it's bearable or not.

I've been using these for years. Comfortable, pretty decent sound and cut out pretty much all outside noise.

I've seen those and if these are too noisy I will most likely give them a try. I was a bit put off by several reviews saying that they only lasted a couple of months, but if that's a couple of months of site use, all day long, then that's actually not surprising.
I have, and do use similar standard ear plugs with power tools and find them comfy most of the time.

At the moment I'm riding through miles of 50mph roadworks (or at least I was...) so wind noise is much lower than the usual 80mph motorway trip so reduced noise reduction from SNR 35 isn't such an issue.
If nothing else they are proving to be good for working from home. I can't hear the wife shouting at the kids in the other room at all. Thumbs Up
They are sealing up in my ear much better than the memory foam ones that came with the M6 PRO headphones and blocking more noise.
I did try a pair of headphones + silicone putty which sealed up really well and were great for noise reduction and staying in place while putting the helmet on, but after 20 mins or so they were getting uncomfortable, I could feel pressure spots and my ears felt sore when I took them out.

Its not the windnoise thats the issue here but the sound dB level of Beibers Greatest Hits being battered against your ear drums.
Hearing loss is very rarely reversible.

Just saying. 🤣

Don't listen to high sound levels over extended time intervals.
Exposure time to 'harmful' sound levels is more of a factor than the level.

I do not recommend any self imposed sound interference,

you need full concentration when surrounded with morons. Shhh!

I set them at a sensible level when stationary, which is why reducing the wind noise is important, cos otherwise I can't hear the Beiber and the wind noise is f'in annoying.
You can rest easy, I do try to look after my hearing.
