More Breaking Advice

right, starting this in earnest, its pissing me off already, so the sooner is done and dusted the better

posting this here, cos i know a lot of the members shun workshop

putting together a spreadsheet with costs and stuff

headings read:
1)part
2)part price,
3)packaging cost,
4)posting cost, and
5)total cost

is that a thorough approach? anything else need adding

my target is to make £1000 from this, to be satisfied-ish, but i think we are even gonna fall short of that, as lots of parts a rusty or have issues, a huge loss was made the moment i bought the bike, so there are no jokes about making a profit here, just take a look at the costs thead in workshop https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=45412

so far ive got these parts on here, and i need prices (where blanks) or corrections where needed, up or down, most of these prices are taken from ebay (alot of which seem to go unsold ) and my experience of parts costs

my biggest problem is the forks, which cost me 260 to get sorted, and a CBR6 shock with re-sorted linkage to fit the CBR4, these cost me a lot to buy, but am i assuming they are worth nowt more than stock items??

really, really need advice and help with this, as its a steep learning curve, and dotn want to be taken the piss out of regarding selling

The front disks your selling so they the blue innerd ones? how many holes? maty.

As for selling parts palm them off on claud

Or, you could probly sell allot of parts and still sell it as a streetfight project?

The prices seem pretty low to me? (well dunno what condition the parts are on)

For example Cheshire motorcycle salvage have the carbs priced up at £75, rear shock for £45 (standard item with no linkages), engine £350 and so on.

I guess it depends how quickly you want to sell it, but might as well try and get as much as you can. I can't really suggest anything in the way of organising things (totaly useless at it).

Prices seem low to me as well. Kind of bargain Ebay prices, but you should be able to do better than that.

Still think you would have got more selling it as a complete bike.

Aim high and let people talk you down, no sense in giving it away!

The shock thing, isn't this a 'desirable' thing to do to the CBR4? In which case, get on CBR and 400 forums and offer it at 2/3 price or something, see what happens. It's not stock, it has the linkage to fit the 4, therefore it is worth more than a ten-a-penny standard 6 shock.

Also, spend some time cleaning things up cos if you can make them look shiny again, they'll go for more wonga.

Put items on ebay and see how they go, you're not obliged to sell them if you mention that in the auction. And let me see what you write before you list them cos I know you and you'll big up the negatives!

Does seem very cheap. NC30 front wheels are known to go for over £100 on ebay, think the cbr400 ones are very similar if not the same.

400greybike people would probably tear your arms off for that modified shock setup.

£75 for a working low-mileage engine? Don't suppose that includes nationwide delivery too?
