very anal but, this is a limited record of the costs from my CBR400 since purchased last June
not exhaustive, cos i kinda got pissed off after a while, there are extra consumables, pads, chains, tyres etc..... seemed no point keeping track

riiiiight , i just added the total up as i was posting this, so if its incorrect, slightly my apoligies, i hate MS calculator

gives an indication at least of what it has cost me, i kept a similar record of the bros (also bought from the same place), it is still a long way from sorted, and has some engine leaks and stuff, needs a new clutch also

4k would have bought me a MINT RVF400 including a full respray in any colour i wanted

oh yes, as pointed out by ben labour is pricey, the labour costs were before i was totally happy to take a spanner to everything

thanks to this bike, i am fairly confident at swinging a spanner now

and will probly attempt most things before going to a dealer IF i've got a spare bike standing by

tis my target to have 2 serviceable bikes, so ive at least always got one to get me about

couldnt really tell you now, seemed like a good idea at the time, was probly thinking along the lines of tarty race bike, or long termness

and yeh, my bike habits to tend to make people feel better about their own

Some of those things you got diddled on. £100 for C&S? I would expect £60~£70. £200 for tyres? The FZR has odd sized tyres which really limits you and they are still only £180 a pair fitted to loose wheels.

And at £430 for a rear shock I hope it was a decent Nitron at the very least.

Lesson to learn; listen to people before you spend money .

This is a definite case for ebay the whole thing... get it bid up to £1k.

Put that list up there, with a good description and you should get more than £1k back.

the 430 was for shock, a new used subframe + powdercoated, plus new wheel + powedercoated, minus trade of my old out of service limit wheel, plus a little thing for the brakes

still damn expensive, and it was just a reconditioned cbr6 shock with a hand made linkage thingy, not worth it really, was caught up in shinyness

i have always paid about 200 for 090's they are pricey, thats fitted and revalved, so maybe 185 for the pair?

and the chains are always DID or some x ring equivalent

I paid around £80 for the last C&S for the 1200 Bandit, and that was a DID O ring chain (and a 530 not a smaller 525). Still lasts 15k~20k.

Still think you were diddled.
