I cant cover my rear brake on my street triple without putting the brake light on. As far as i know its not actually causing the brake to bite as i'm not feeling any resistance.

Is altering the brake level position a thing or do i move the footrest (is this possible) or am i just stupid and need to live with having my foot in a strange position??
I've consulted google but think this talks about engaging the brake and not just the light does this mean that the adjustment would need to be less or is it something different?

Please be kind i don't know what i am doing at all - leave sarcasm and cruelty to the random chat topic, i will happily take it there Very Happy

The lever is adjustable. You need to undo the locknuts and then screw in the shaft, so that the lever is lower. It's not difficult but it's a bit faffy.

I'm not familiar with the bike, but is the switch not adjustable? As long as it's not a hydraulic switch, it's usually possible to wind the switch out a mm or two to allow for some movement before it comes on.

It's hydraulic .

Why do you need to cover the brake anyway? In my experience the pedal is always too high to comfortably hold your foot above it anyway.

In a car you wouldn't drive along covering the brake.

Rear brake? Oh the one used at the MOT.... gotcha. Thumbs Up

Lower the pedal instead of adjusting the switch as the MOT tester will want it to come on with the pedal operating.

It's also amazingly useful for low speed turns, and speed control in corners without having to chop the throttle Thumbs Up

Yes, looks like the switch is the standard adjustable plunger and spring type so it can be screwed in slightly so it only comes on as the brake starts to engage.

If you can't adjust it down enough, you should be able to stretch the spring slightly.

Adjusting the lever down without adjusting the switch won't make things any better, might actually make the light stay on all the time. You'd need to adjust the switch too if you adjust the lever.

Cover the brake is the wrong way to phrase it. I would have to put my foot in a more uncomfortable position and then have to move excessively to use it.

Is adjusting this something that can be done at home by someone who has zero mechanical knowledge of..well anything, by watching something on youtube? Or do you recommend booking it in somewhere?

I always have the balls of my feet on the pegs.

What part of your foot is on the peg?
