I am moving to Edinburgh next month and was wondering if someone could recommend a good garage?

By good I don't mean a place where I will get a smile but a mechanic who actually does care about the bike. For example, I give one star reviews to mechanics who change the tires and don't set the chain slack as stated on the sticker. That to me means laziness. I don't want to have to touch the bike if I have paid the garage to do the job. Once I took a bike for throttle cable recall, I found it improperly routed (checked it before I took it to the garage and after the work was done). You get my point.

Are there any recommendations where you can expect that you will get high quality of work done for a normal price, i.e under £80 an hour.

There are quite few good mechanics I know of but there is no garauntee they will be the one working on your bike if you book it in because they all work for bigger companies.

I'd just do it yourself unless it's someone you know.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

Quite so.. If you know enough to criticise you know enough to do it.

LOL, you are totally right. I do try to do most of the things but there are certain areas I don't want to experiment with so would need someone reliable to do it.

If anyone has recommendations in the Glasgow area as well I'd like to hear - need someone trust worthy to do the valve checks and starter valve sync on my vfr800x. I really can't be arsed right now as my time is at a premium.

There is a new bike place that has just opened in Motherwell. I know that's not exactly Edinburgh, but if you are looking for a decent mechanic I believe that the guy who has started it has some good credentials.

Its a Polish guy named Patryk.

And his place is named Rapid Motorcycles. I've not had any dealings with the guy but a wee bit of Facebook stalkary, reveals that he might know what he is doing when it comes to bikes.

Thank you @Gazz. I will definitely check him out. I am ok to travel up to 50-60 miles in the radius of Edinburgh so if anyone has other suggestions, please shoot.
