I put a plate with gold edging in a microwave once. When I saw the sparks I realised what I'd done, won't do that again
New microwave? old? coating come off something?
If you can't put metal in a microwave, why are they made of metal inside?
So many questions... |

Each CD can be played once in your microwave and it will only play for a few seconds. |

I posted a pic of some mango slices in a bowl that someone put in. Ruined!
The microwave is about 10 years old. It's a Bifinett KH1167, which I see is still made as "Silvercrest" ( https://www.manualslib.com/manual/89759/Silvercrest-Microwave-Kh-1167.html?page=2#manual ).
The inside and outside is stainless steel, and the turntable's not bent or distorted, although some of the non-stick has come off a bit in the middle. The stainless screws holding the wheels on are tight.
It doesn't always spark. Just sometimes. Bzzzzt! and I open the door, can't see anything wrong. |

A butter wrapper plays better than a CD. IMHO.
OP is your Google running in Lock-Down mode?
https://www.sos-parts.com/microwave-sparking.html
Either the wheels and plate support have some conductive material splodged over them or the track is worn through to bare metal.
The metal microwave ovens is made from is bent in shapes that don't collect the micro waves so do notnspark.
The mesh in the door window is a Far away Cage. Waves are dissipated. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

How very dare you, sir! I resemble that remark.
First time I tried a microwave oven was to cook scrambled egg... and the rest, as they say, writes itself! ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

You can put metal in a microwave quite safely as long as it doesn't have any pointy bits or narrow edges. It's these that cause the problems as they act as antennae and cause standing waves that can cause the magnetron to overheat. Put a ball bearing in and nothing's going to happen.
Exposed screws shouldn't cause a problem either - the manufacturers put them in there after all. If you're worried just put a bit of paint over them - but let it dry before you fire it up again. |

Is that not a combi oven though?
I'm not sure all standard microwaves are metal friendly. I've certainly seen ones which aren't over the years, especially for a metal tray, a metal plate, a metal cup or bowl. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.
