Does anyone have experience of the single layer 'kevlar' jeans?

I've used fully lined Draggin jeans for years along with more recent part lined Red Route, Bull-it and most recently Resurgence. I've gotta say that i'm most pleased with my Resurgence City Chinos due to them fitting extremely well and being RELATIVELY cool in the heat.

I'm keen on single layer due to them being a fair bit cooler in the summer than the lined jeans.

I'm torn between the Resurgence New Wave and their supposed 11 second slide time (much higher than anything else, lined or not) and the Halvarsons Macan. The New Wave doesn't seem to have any CE rating (heard rumours about it passing the old Level 1) but the Macan has a new AAA rating (at least 4 seconds slide time). Any ideas here? The Roadskins i looked at were only AA rated....

The Roadskins come in two flavours (these days) and I have both; the "Easy Riders" which are the thinner, AA grade, and the Paranoid which are AAA rated and only marginally more expensive.

The comfort level of the two is significantly different; the Easy Riders I can almost get by with as normal jeans, especially as they have memory foam armour which is pretty flexible. The Paranoids have a substantially thicker construction and are warmer . . . less suited for hot days, but the fabric has very little give and they're much less comfortable to sit around in.

Worth bearing in mind that the armour, while soft, is probably my biggest bugbear in warm weather. It's located inside the jeans so only thin fabric separates it from your skin and it gets very sweaty and unpleasant underneath pretty quickly. That said, I'm sure you can perforated armour which would probably solve this.

To be honest, I wouldn't get too hung up on abrasion resistance beyond A grade; if the jean itself is CE rated (not just the armour) it's probably comparable to any other textile outfit.

Regardless of the rating, hitting the deck is hitting the deck.

Wear whats most comfortable.

Thanks guys. Yeah I guess you're right. Either will be better than standard textile which i wear often. Will see what I can get on offer at the moment. Have just managed to get an offer on PMJ at £180

Wife’s just ordered me a pair of the road skins Easy riders. As mentioned above they are AA rated and are getting good reviews. £119 seems a very good price as well
