Ok, I'm bored... so I'll share my shite...

Recently fitted an isolator to my bike, because I had a 5mA leakage, and wasn't in the mood to strip the bloody thing down (I have another project I want to get on with) ..
So battery now stays charged indefinitely, great.

Now up till now what with the weather and this crap going on plus working from home I haven't really used it on a regular basis, just the odd jaunt for an hour or two. The other day spent a few hours touring all the shops for some food, can't get much in the panniers (defo need a top box) , so three or four trips ~1 mile or so, with one 10 mile... fine. Two days later another trip to shop further away... fine....then one more trip to go and the familiar flat battery solenoid clicking.... stuck it on charge for the night.

Next day I started it with the voltmeter attached, no voltage rise when accelerating. Could have sworn I checked that when I got the bike, but hey not gonna lose any sleep over it.

Ordered a VR and it arrives Monday, it should cure the leakage problem as well. BUT..I haven't actually checked if there's any output from the stator...so that's my job for tomorrow.

If it IS the stator, I'll get a spare, buy the wire and rewind it myself (with larger output capacity), and I'll have a spare regulator.

So there you have it ....just thought you'd like to know, and for those that didn't Middle Finger

Part 2, I wasn't planning on a part 2, but I know people are NOT waiting for it...so ...

Checked the stator it was ~45VAC, did check the specs, there wasn't an AC value.

Plugged in the new Voltage Regulator, popped the tank back on for a quick check and hey presto 14V+ when above fast idle.

Haven't checked the residual leak yet, but I will when the mood grabs me.
