a couple of inches?
According to a quick google of specs,it only has three and a half inches of suspension travel up front.... and at least 1/3 of that should be compressed at rest anyway.. so a couple of inches more would be bottoming the suspension out to full travel.
U-tube clip doesn't look like 'a couple of inches... though maybe that's what you tell the missus.... but dont look far 'wrong' could you lift two 15 stone chaps with one hand like that? Thats the soirt of force the spring in the fork is expected to hold up... in a e-stop.
Start again, from the top, what are you trying to 'fix' here?
According to them web-specs, its a 'cartridge' fork, so the chrome bit, as you call it... the stancheon.. is just a tube telescoping inside a slider, in which there's a 'cartridge' damper, probably a bit like the strut on the back door of a hatch-back car, but CSML exploded diagrams seem to suggest a conventional tele..
Exploded diagram? You'll have one omn the work-shop manual, you know the Haynes you dont think you need 'cos you got google on your smurfone! Gowoan.. amaze me, tell us you bought the book, BEFORE you started taking critical bits of motor vehicle apart and asking us incomprehensible questions! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
