Water pump leak?

Hey guys.... working on my ancient shitbox er500. What a great bike, just realised I've been riding for the past few months without any water in it at all, its runs fine!

Anyway I've overhauled the cooling system completely but I have a small leak from the water pump cover. New gasket with a smear of sillicone sealant on both sides and I've cleaned up the surfaces up with a lot of care. I'm just wondering if I havn't tightened the bolts enough. I cant find a torque number but I down want to strip and bolts . Any ideas what to do?

Or something has warped whilst overheating, like the water pump cover?
Try putting it up to a vertical glass window and see if it looks level all around. If not, you might get away with flatting it down a bit by rubbing it on a bit of wet and dry on a flat surface or buy another.

Don't forget your temperature sender won't have been reading much when it's not even submerged in water. That bike would have been running very hot. I'm amazed you've not knackered it terminally to be honest.

It's not uncommon for them to warp. I had one do this on my race bike. You could see the warp by holding it up against a sheet of glass.
