I'm looking to get some leathers soon-ish, mostly for track so I was thinking 1 piece, but I'm gonna wear them for general use too, so maybe 2 piece is more practical.. I popped into Hein Gericke today and saw the new Celtic suit, attached as an image to this post.

I've had Gericke leathers before and they were great, held up well in an accident and felt quite comfortable etc.

These Celtic suits look and feel better quality than a £1500 Alpinestars suit that was in the showroom.. they honestly seem a lot better, and at £380 not sure I can complain really..

Just curious as to who has these, or similar leathers and what you think of them? Have you crashed in them, if so how well have they held up?

I'm looking to go for the 2 piece in silver/black. As much as I'd prefer the 1 piece, it's just not going to be practical for general use.

Thanks.

Look quite cool. Weren't you intending to race at some point though? Not sure about SM regulations, but you usually need a 1-piece.

You can use 2 piece as long as they zip together, I'm pretty sure. I'll double check though just to be on safe side.

I've got a set of 2 piece heine gericke leathers, not that particular model though.

Very happy with them so far, other than the trousers have a lining to them that is specially designed so you can't easily put them on.

To be honest - YES - there's an example of a FUCKED AND SHAGGED 1 piece Celtic suit at the Kenton HG. Manager said it belonged to some club racer who fell off at 80-100 mph and seams looked intact with the hides still thick. Abrasion is expected, but it didn't really penetrate it. They're having major reductions on last year's top of the line 1 piece (not the tribal but the 400 quid one)- only 300 quid and worth considering. The 2 piece version is 150 quid for jacket and 150 for pants.

I have the two-piece suit which preceded the Celtics, but they seemed very similar in construction when I looked in the local Hein Gericke last weekend... can't remember the name, but they did very well in RiDE tests. I've slid a short way in them and barely marked the leather, so I'm happy they'll do as decent a job as can be expected. I have no bother zipping them together - zips work well and go all the way round the body.

For the price, I think they're brilliant Thumbs Up

Titz, I know the manager of the Portsmouth Gericke and he was telling me about someone who binned it on track at 120+ mph in this suit (presume 1 piece) and the bloke emailed Gericke to say how well it held up etc.. apparantly he crashed at that speed in practice and the leathers were fine, so fine that he could carry on and do the races later in the day..

Supermoto is a fair bit slower so if someone has binned it at 120 I'm sure these will be fine for supermoto!? I hope anyway.

Two piece is definitely not allowed for road racing. To be honest I doubt it is for supermoto either.

Checked in the ACU handbook and it didn't say either way.

I've spoken to a few racers and they say 2 piece is fine for both the series that I'm looking to enter (Southern Supermoto and Nora, Motard Masters are also fine with 2 piece) I haven't bought them yet, so can still go 1 piece.. just not sure if I can live with them - Altho biking will soon just be a "fun" thing if car is used for most stuff, hmmm so maybe I don't need practical Thinking

Don't honestly think I'd wear anything bearing the name "Celtic".

Do Heine Gericke sponser any riders? No. So I wonder how they get any feedback from theyre suits. IMVHO go with a name you can trust, Alpinestars, Dainese, or Arlen Ness. Thumbs Up
Please not Heine Gericke! Tut Tut

That's not really true though....... my Alpinestars boots are falling to pieces, with AStar pretty much all you're paying for is the name and logo!!! I've crashed in Gericke leathers and there wasn't a mark on them/me so I'd trust them, just wanted to see what others thought. I would much much rather have that £400 HG suit than a £1500 A* suit... I saw them side by side today and the HG suit was far better quality.

Alpinestars is like Snap-On really you just seem to be paying extorionate amounts when you can have Sealey/Hien Gerricke - good products but you arnt paying for the brand. OK bad example.

HG stuff constantly out performs suits like A'stars. I've got a one peice suit from them. Not sure what it is, but was the one above tribal a few years ago.

I'm not a fan of their latest ranges, a little to ..... don't really know. European maybe?

I agree completely.

I have a pair of Alpinestar GP Pro gloves - won't be buying another pair as the stitching parted on the thumb (not through crashing, I hasten to add) and I had to get them repaired - I wasn't impressed.

I've got a HG 2 piece similar to the celtic and it wears very well, had it for about a year now and still looking good.

Haven't crashed yet cos I'm too concerned about scratching them.

Still be interested to know how the new HG leathers got on in this crash, would be a real test for them.

The guy in the pic looks like he's on a budget or is a new rider.
On top of using HG leathers he's wearing a nitro helmet.

Exactly what I wear but it's the cheapest good gear you can get.

Edit - are they coming up to a corner, hence the stoppie from the other guy but why is he totalling it like he is? - Edit

I have HG 2 piece. The PSX-R combo, released before tribal and they are extremely comfy although a tad baggy round the arse. Can't help having a nice bum. A couple of threads appeared hear and there but a quick snip and it was fine.
