my aprilia rs 125 extrema (94) somtimes backfires when starting from cold, but never does it any other time apart from then, is this something to worry about.

I would think not. I would guess it's having a morning cough just like a cigarette smoker.

Hi

Probably some petrol in the exhaust. Maybe leaking a bit of petrol into the engine when parked, or maybe you just have the very bad habit of revving the engine and then turning the engine off while the revs are high.
