I was given this security camera by a mate who had it in a job lot. I said a while back I wanted one to monitor the driveway and watch over the front of the house. Not sure if it's going to be suitable?

Can I hook it up some how to the PC?
What else would I need to get it working?

Any help much appreciated.

I's probably supposed to be hooked up to a recorder of some kind, I would get a £20 IP camera from ebay if you have wifi where it needs to go.
They generally come with rather crude software will email you an image and short clip if movement is detected.
I have a computer running 24/7 and three of them record continuously to it using Blue Iris

It looks like an ordinary Coax output for tv and an S-Video ouput for tv or PC. If your PC doesn't have an S-video input you can buy a converter to convert S-video to VGA or HDMI.

Thes tp-link cameras are really good.
Notifications of any movement detected will go straight to your phone (you can monitor the cam from their app).

I bought the indoor version (£30) and the quality is surprisingly good.
Indoor version supports ONVIF so will work with NAS or other systems. Shame the outdoor and PTZ versions don't support it.

Wifi, with mic and speaker, night vision, sd card.

Read up omn the signeage and time calibration requirements. It would be really annoying to get a clear pic of a bike thief and for the video to be inadmissable.

My understanding is that for domestic use no signage is required if you only capture images within your own property.

I had cause to query the timestamp thing on a video and the copper said it doesn't matter, all you would need to do is make a statement that the video was taken at x time and it would be admissible.

But if he's monitoring the driveway, it'll presumably be covering the entrance to the driveway.
