I searched but couldn't find an answer. I have bought a flip front helmet
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Leopard-LEO-838-Modular-Motorbike-Motorcycle/dp/B076ZZ8KBD
This is just to get me going while the shops are shut but might do as a spare for a lift.
Anyway, even with the chin strap tight, I can push the strap forward and off my chin and helmet then can be pulled off head... I never noticed this 15 years ago or so last time I wore one. Can others do this? It is well fitted and feels fine otherwise (ie very snug fit)
Thanks |

Thanks for the input but I think you're missing my pint. I agree with all you say, I just wondered (not being able to go to the shops and try) if your helmet straps can be pushed forward off your chins. Have a go!
Yes but even a perfectly fitted helmet can come off in a bad enough crash
Yes, that's what I said. I just wondered if anyone elses helmet strap, when tight, can be pushed forward over the chin like I can?
Jimbo's point is that you're incredibly unlikely to have an accident where something pulls the strap over your chin in the way you can with your finger. Without touching the strap can you get the helmet off with it fastened?
True, I just woondered if my strap was normal. No, I canot get the helmet off, it is a good fit and secure if no fingers pushing on the strap.
Is the strap actually tight to your chin? I can't see how if it is it could possibly get over your chin, unless you have a very bevelled face.
Yes it is tight and no I have a fairly normal chin and face lol. I can push the strap forward off my chin. Can you?
Buy a proper helmet. If you could pay to un-crack your skull or un-damage your brain, I bet you'd be willing to pay a hell of a lot more than £40.
Correct. But that's not possible at the moment.
Two words - Marco Simoncelli
Even a properly fitted helmet can come off given enough force.
yep, but I'm just wondering if the strap is insecure on mine.
Cheers all |

Read the reviews, especially the longer lower-star ones. Note what you have is ECE R22.05 ONLY when the chinbar is closed and locked.
The cheapest reasonable flip-front one I can find is a G-Mac Axis which has a 4* "Sharp" rating (£55, so yes it's £15 more. EDIT: £43.83 eBay EDIT again but only X/S still you can look as well as I can!. Maybe consider sreturning the one you have and buying one of these?). |

"it feels cheap because it was cheap. the sun visor doesn't cover enough of my face. needed a lot of WD40 to try to make it open/close smooth, still just half way there... etc"
this 1 star review made me laugh... who in their right mind does this and stinks their whole head of wd40 stench lol?!
I honestly don't think the helmet feels bad at all, but I can assure you my next one in a month or 2 will be a good make |
