Jackets:
Hi vis, sensible but not a cool look imho Surprised
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004O9Y6C6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3MTEF186O7VV5&psc=1

Black, looks good, could add a hi viz workman's waistcoat on top i suppose, then when I stop to get off I can walk round the shops without looking like a H&S nutcase in fluoro
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082T32WLZ/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=A8CZJD47G5EH3&psc=1

Trousers... never had them before, alsways used to wear jeans as I didn;t like leather, but these look ok....
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008OYLLOI/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=A3MTEF186O7VV5&psc=1

I'd really appreciate any tips Thumbs Up . I know I should try on at the shops, but I can't, I will in a month or 2. Picking up the bike from 200 miles away so need to be prepared for the week end.

Cheers!

UPDATE 2/6/20 HAD TO RETURN AS THE SIZES WERE ALL WRONG AND THE QUALITY NOT GOOD. SO DON'T BOTHER, GO TO LOCAL BIKE SHOP

Seem a bit pricey for no name jeans. If you snipe eBay you can get Draggins for similar or a little more.

The jacket, it'll probably work. Don't expect any decent level of waterproofing.

Similar cost I would do this

and for jackets one of these

While i generally hate motovloggers, there's a guy called fortnine who has quite a few videos on adventure bike gear and no-nonsense reviews of textile kit. He's in Canada so different brands but it'll give you a good idea what to look for.

I generally also hate them but Fortnine has a few genuinely useful videos and I like his style.

thank you both. I will have a look through
Once thing that puzzled me is that some jackets say they have a back protector but its an option, then you go and look for it and they don;t sell it in theyre own brand... are they universal fit?

I have nothing to add except Middle Finger from this old codger with a wax jacket.

If you drop down the sizing menu this one is in large. I used to own the predecessor to that jacket (identical but no hi-vis bits and called summat else). It lasted me 2 years of year round commuting which is pretty good.

Almost all will come with a piece of foam in the back. Some call it a protector, it's not. It's just a bit of foam, you can buy a proper CE protector to slot in. I use them but I have pretty nasty spinal injuries I'm not keen to aggravate. If I didn't, I wouldnt, the crash that fucked my back would still have fucked it if I'd had a proper protector in.

Don't forget gloves, on a budget I recommend looking at Richa.

For about that price you can get a pair of Bullit SP120's which are really good. I doubt if those come with any armour though (mine didn't).
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/408201

I do find that motorbike Jeans have very odd sizing and are stretchy, so go smaller. I usually wear a 32 or 34" normal jeans but my bullit sp120's are 30" and my RST ones are 32" and that could do with being a 30 as well.

It's really worth buying from somewhere like Sportbikeshop and not Amazon too. They are pretty good with returning stuff if it doesn't fit you and they are probably selling better quality branded stuff.

Thanks for the info, I will look at the shops when they open, it's just I have to use Amazon prime to get things quick... there may be a couple of bargains on Ebay in about a month if you like cheapo amazon riding gear!

You know for the cost of this temporary gear you could rent a van, collect the bike and have change left over.

I've also paid £80 to have a bike picked up from north england and transported to south wales using Shiply. I dont think I'd bother going that far to get a bike unless I wanted to see it in person first.

I’ve had a jet hi viz jacket for almost a year, it’s ok for occasional use, I’ve been using it daily for work (until March anyway) and the Velcro is knackered now. I’ll be replacing it with something better for next winter.

For jeans I made the mistake of buying cheap ones ("Red Route" from J&S) once, seemed a good move but I found myself unsettled by their naff construction/safety and ended up getting rid and buying decent ones (Roadskin). Happy enough now.

It's true that with fuel costs I could rent a van for ~£100 but that 100 can be spent on a cheap jacket and jeans now, collect and ride the bike through beautiful A68 countryside, then sell them on Ebay for 1/3 what I paid in a month or 2 and I get 30 quid back

I enquired about shipments but was harder to arrange all round (with transferring money etc... prob would do from a dealer but not private seller) plus I want to see the thing in the flesh before handing over the cash... though I am 90% certain all will be well.
