just wondering what the settings are for the nsr 2001 R1 carb are?

and is the mixture screw the one on the right hand side?

hi mate,

yeh i have looked through that loadz of times but there are no exact settings for the carb screws, i adjusted them the other day but didnt have a clue how much to put them in.

this sucks as the local bike garage said £45 to set it up wich is a joke as i can do it myself!

i just need to no how much.

haha yeh i just stripped my whole bike down and rebuilt from scratch

in the garage for 3 weeks

just gotta sort the carb and adjust the powervalve (Y)

not sure whats wrong with it yet, need to do a compression test tomorrow to see if the rings are bolloxed if i have decent compression then i'll have to get the carb out and check the fuelling is all working..

The idle and mixture screw settings are unique to the bike as it is affected by the temperature, altitude, spark plug conditione etc etc.

I do know that is the mixture is set at 1.5 turns out at stock.

So set the mixture screw at that settings and the idle is of course easy to set, around 1500RPM warmed up with the choke off is perfect. After you have got the idle set, you can fiddle with the mixture screw some more and see what works best, only turn it around 1/8 of a turn at a time.

OK boy , setting is quite simple
- set the pilot screw (the smallest , the more in front) at 2 1/2 turns out
- start engine on choke without acceleration and let it turning until it begins to stuff
- apply a bit of acceleration (2500-3000) , take choke off keep like that for 30s to 1mn
- release right handle and let it warming for an other couple of mn
- adjust the idle screw (the big one with the spring) to idle at 1500 rpm (normal is 1400 but when engine is very hot you'll loose 100 rpm)
that's all
remember : the carb is underjetted (132,38,55) and 2strokes dont like lean mixture . look my file NSRtips.doc , you will see where the jets are and which size is the best

i have the nsr upgrade jets and will do that asap, thankyou alains.

secondly, i have the nsr manual and my oil pump cable is not pulling as it should be. shall i leave it or adjust it to the manuals setting?

it should be adjusted as the manual said but if you cant i recommand to change the complete cable (it comes from the handle then split in 2 parts for the throttle & the oil pump)

Hi everyone I've got an 89 Italian import nsr 125, the float recently stuck on and flooded into the over flow. I cleaned the carb changed the fuel filter cleaned the tank and tap filter.
I also replaced the valve set float as the rubber tip looked a bit worn.
I put it all back together and took it for a ride, everything is fine until I hit 4th gear @ 7k rpm it just dies there's no power at all yet 1st 2nd 3rd I have full power.
Any ideas

Not sure can’t see any loose wires
C1572 85 is the number on it and the other box says ky4 tv7885261 if that helps, it still bigs down at 6500rpm in 4th 5th and6th yet 1st and 2nd are fine.

it's not C1572 it's CI572 . all NSR125R(K-L-M-N ) are JC20 and none is restricted

you are confusing JC20 (1989-1992) and JC22 (1993-2001)
no JC20 has restrictors except french models which have CI589C instead of the CI572 . Restrictions are on JC22 with the countries rules where they are sold

I’ve had carb off again today and checked floats and mixture screw, all are fine, fitted new plug still same problem.
Everything was running perfect until the float stuck on, now it’s not. I’m stuck for ideas now

Yes all clean like new, I turned mixture screw to 2 turns instead of 2.5 and it ran a bit better but still bogs out so put it back to 2.5.
