So I have a speedfight 3 darkside 125 and when i turn it on it idles at 3000 which I know is normal until it warms up then drops down to 2000. the problem I have it that it jumps back up to 3000 for no reason when im using it and doesn't seem to idle back to 2000 most of the time. I have played with the idle screw but if I turn it lower then when it does decide to idle properly it would be too low. the manual says 2000 is perfect. I don't know if there is something wrong with it or if thats normal? I'd prefer to find out sooner rather than later as I use my bike as my main form of transport.

Thanks for any help!

The manual linked to in your other thread contains this (p. 35):

Idle setting
- Remove the storage compartment. See:
Procedure 1 page 19.
- The engine must be at its operating
temperature.

- Switch off the engine.
- Park the vehicle on its stand.
- Check the operating clearance in the
throttle.

- Start the engine.
- Screw or unscrew the engine speed adjuster
screw (1) to alter the idle speed.
- The rear wheel should not turn.
Idle speed: 2000 to 2200 rpm

Make sure also that the throttle cable is free, and not "sticky" in operation.

Thanks, I did all this previous. I set it to the right idle revs and it sits perfectly about 80% of the time apart from the first few mins (which I know is to warm up) then even when its warmed up and I've used it a while when I come to a stop at traffic lights for example it wont go down and idle. Is this normal? I'm so new to all this and don't want to wreck the bike thats why I'm asking so many questions haha. definitely going to jump to a real bike soon as I need more power Laughing

Air leak between the carb/throttle body and engine intake.

Neither know or care whether it's carb of FI. The cause will be the same.

LEGEND! So this morning I opened the access panel and had a look by the carb and just looked to see if anything looked loose, and the screw holding the pipe to the carb was SOOOOO loose! tightened it up and took her for a spin and back to normal! I have been riding with these revs jumping about for a month now do you think that will have caused any damage? seems to be back to how it was before though

I doubt if any dirt would have got in so no real.chance of damage unless if overheats due to the mixture being too lean.

yeah I don't think it will have over heated as the performance of the bike never changed it was just idle at 3000 when it normally idles at about 1.5 or 2k

So I changed the oil to see if it was dirty and look at this and there were small bits at the bottom. I put fresh stuff in and cleaned the filter. The guy who sold it me said it had just had a service! but I don't know if this is because of the previous problem what do you think?
