Hey all.
Has anyone ever had a brake pipe custom ordered before?
1 length of pipe with m10 banjos either end is 22 quid
https://www.brtmotorsport.co.uk/

1 hose specific for my xj600 is about 60 quid.... stupidly expensive when you consider a brand name whole set for my car was about 60 quid.

What are opinions on these made to order pipes?

Depends what it's made of and who made it. The latter probably more important.

The "model specific" ones are made exactly the same way and would be subject to the same caveat. Brake hose comes on a big reel, fittings came in a selection box. "Model specific" places will have a chart stating the length and fittings required for that model and most probably make them up to order anyway.

I suppose the only advantage is if it doesn't fit, you can send a model specific one back whereas if you cocked up your measurements, it's on you.

If the one in your first post is really doing hoses for £21 you are unlightly to beat that !

We or rather our Wholesaler supplies custom hoses to order but £35

We used to make up ourselves with goodridge parts but not mail order and supply and fit only

Check your local shop / workshop see what they can do

The big name is goodridge but thee are lots of good suppliers out there

In fairness, I've never had bad ones. Just check them when they arrive that the ends are cripmed tightly and evenly, any bolt-on bits are done up tight and there's no hairy bits of outer sticking out round the fittings.

Okay wow. Check the suppliers website directly....
On Goodridge's own website theyre a measly 26 quid plus vat.

Looks like some websites put a lot of markup on them.

HEL are very good too. I actually preferr then to Goodrige. Lower profile and a good selection of colours (I like black hoses and they do black stainless fittings).

I have fitted HEL sets to a few bikes over the years and never had any issues with fit. I've never had 'made to measure' from them though so can't comment on their prices and service.

I used to get mine one offs made by a local custom shop, Holland Engineering, just outside Milton Keynes but that was a good few years ago and I have no idea if they still do that stuff anymore.

I only use HEL.
Nice people to deal with and quality products.
Will supply copy of OEM, custom to dimensions or as per sample.
