Anyone ever done this for trackdays?

I've got 2 track days at Brands Indy coming up and the right side of the tyre is always the most worn by the end of it because the track is very right-hand corner biased.

Currently have Metzeler Racetec K3 RRs.

Is there any real reason reason why tyres run a certain way other than for the tread to work correctly in the wet?

I was thinking to use up these tyres for both of those trackdays and then change them to fresh ones for the rest of summer, so I wouldn't be running these tyres the wrong way around on the road- it'd just be to make use of all the spare tread on the left side on that trackday alone.

I've never done this myself, but heard it can be done through various shitposts online.

If it will handle like shit and isn't worth doing then I'll probably just slap some new tyres on after the first day and stop being a cheapskate.

As long as it's dry, I don't think it's much of an issue.

No its dangerous as the belts are probabaly directional. Instead you should use them for 20 minutes maximium and then sell them to me for 10 pound like everyone else Very Happy

The arrows are supposed to face the front of the bike. You’ll have to run your bike backwards instead to keep the arrows facing the right way. Report back how you get on Thumbs Up

And when you've run them for a while backwards, don't forget to then turn them inside-out too Smile

Just rotate the wheel through 180 degrees and the arrow points the other way.

Good call - you'll have to rotate the bike 180 degrees every half rotation of the wheel too. Laughing

I'd only do it once the scrutineer has had a look at your bike.

Do they still do that? Only did a track day once on my Tenere 660z. That was interesting. Laughing

Got 2 decent dry sessions in and then it pissed it down, proper thunderstorm.

Thought fuck that and pissed off home.

Plus side, don't need to flip the tyres because they're still intact.

Was really looking forward to doing a backwards 360 upside-down U-turn flip with my elbow at 140 down the brabham straight though.

There's always next time.

It would save a lot of effort just ride the track in reverse, anti clockwise to make left biased. Are there track sessions for that?

No track run both ways because the places where the marshalls get on the track face away from the direction of the track so that vehicles cant enter them from the track in a crash.

Change the direction of travel and cars will be hitting marshals.
