I bought this a week ago as a none runner with a seized engine, took me about 10 mins to unseize it Laughing , i'm keeping the rat look but will be cleaning it up to make usable, it came with no documents and will need to be registered as a new older vehicle, i have done some work on it already and just waiting for a load of spares, so here are a few photos of where i am with it and a video of it's first start and run Laughing Thumbs Up

The video gets a bit shaky as the tripod is on the wooden floor which ended up vibrating a fair bit Laughing

Looks/sounds like it's missing an exhaust baffle? It'll probably idle much better with one.

I was waiting for it to wheelie out of your greenhouse...

It needs an exhaust gasket, and could do with the exhaust cleaning out which i will do later, main thing was to get it running, got a full set of rubber coming in the next few days tyres, tubes, rim tape, also got a new air filter and cowl coming any day now Thumbs Up

How are the rims? Looks like the outside's cleaned up pretty well but inside, under the tape is where the damp collects.

I am slightly smarting with jealousy. I hope you paid for it! Is the chrome on the headlamp peak OK? Were I lucky enough to have this, I think it would take me a while to think what to do with it. A full restoration would be one thing, but keeping the look - probably by not using it Sad another. Plus lots in between.

Yes i paid for it Laughing although i did bid the seller as i was taking a gamble with it having a seized engine, so far i only know of 3 others in the UK, there is one for sale on ebay, i will be leaving the frame as is with the current patina it will get a light wet and dry just to get rid of some of the roughness, i will get the seat recovered and replace missing bolts and that's about it, the brakes are in good condition with plenty of material on the shoes, oh i will replace the pedals as they are cracked and dropping to bits, i'm hoping to have it on the road by the end of the month Laughing Thumbs Up

The headlamp is a bit rough it might clean up Thumbs Up

Funnily enough i was after a Tomos or Puch Maxi, then i saw this on FB market place not too far away, i must admit when i saw it i did like and i was determined to bring it home even if i had to pay the asking price, but luck was on my side and i got it for just over half the asking price, the problem is that being so rare there are no spares over here, the engine is their own Rizzato 119 which i believe is based on a minarelli, but the parts are not interchangeable, some parts are available from Italy but at a hellish cost Shocked

I have a thing about your mudguards. While they play the part precisely, they are reminiscent of something before the cheap nasty period, and do not look like other examples. Is it by any chance one from the first production, I wonder?

I have the same thoughts about trying to date it, most examples and pictures are around 1977/78/79, but all the info suggests to date this one at around 1974, i got in touch with DVLA but it's not on their system and as far they are concerned never been registered, i passed all the engine and frame numbers to a specialist who can provide a dating certificate but i don't think they will be able to give an exact date and will have to go on the other examples, the main difference is the shape of the tank and the petcock being on the opposite side, and the rack at the back is also different.

according to a website archive of IGM frame numbers it is dated at 1967 Thumbs Up

Front wheel nearly done, still have a bit of cleaning and polishing on the inside of the rim and the spokes, bearings have been cleaned and greased, all new rubber fitted and now back on the bike Thumbs Up

Excellent! I have been looking forward to more info.

However, I don't like the screw nipples in your photographs at all. I am sorry to have to tell you that. No matter how much you tweak them, they never seem to be much good, and if the wire slips out unexpectedly, look out for trouble!

I agree, not too keen on the pinch bolts, i have an idea using a v groove bearing and loop the cable around it using a crimp fixing, which would be more secure and the cable less likely to wear, will have a think over it Thumbs Up
