Crooks will find a way.

Realistically it may be some solution to the headache of bike theft.

But the caveat is that a thwarted crim might damage his/her target in the process of failing or just out of malice.

It's a long term problem of society with long term problems of solution.

As is the way of the internet, this topic has taken me to Chobham Armour, a metal and ceramic composite (actually layers) for tanks. The brittleness is used to disperse impacts but it won't survive multiple hits.

They used a hand-pumped hydraulic shear (rebar cutter) to cut the chain of the last bike I had stolen.

I suspect it would go through that stuff like a hot knife through butter.

You can't make something that's resistant to all attacks, but most thieves usually carry only one tool so two, lower-priced but different locks is probably better than one super lock.
