2002 R1 Noisy Chain and sprockets

I have just replaced my chain and sprockets on my R1. I have gone for the recommended chain (D.I.D 530ZVM gold), a Renthal rear sprocket and a JT front, all standard tooth count. By 'eck it whines a lot around the front sprocket....the reason I replaced the old one was it was noisy. I,m pretty sure its not a dodgy output bearing, the slack is as recommended in the Yamaha manual (40-50mm), and the alignment front to back seems ok. Is it normal for a new chain and sprockets to make such a noise, any ideas out there?? Mileage is 11300.

They should be pretty quiet really. If it whines that bad my guess is no lube, chain too tight or in worst case, worn bearing. maybe try go out for a short trip with a slacker than usual chain, see if the noise goes away

I did slacken the chain a tiny bit and that seemed to improve it slightly. When the bike is on the paddock stand, and you spin the rear wheel, you can hear the chain running around the front sprocket. If you magnify that noise, like when riding, thats the noise I can hear. The original front sprocket had a plastic piece fitted to it to dampen the chain noise I guess, the JT one doesn't. I may order a sprocket from yamaha and see if that improves it, but i,m sure the shaft bearings are OK and its chain/sprocket issue (I hope!!!)

I just put a new chain and sprockets on my gixxer 750
A DID X Ring gold and as is usual it came totally lubed up
One reason for the X ring seals it keeps the grease in.

As long as the back wheel is aligned right you should not be able to hear a thing , but I did give the back sprocket a spray round with chain wax.

Did you fit it yourself and use a descent rivetter, maybe the rivet link has tightened up.
