'Here's one we did earlier'
The rear bronze bush, front roller bearing and oil seal were all fine
so were the brushes so all it needed was a clean and tart up.
I checked and found that had any of the above items been badly worn
I could easily have sourced them for a few quid and brought it back to nearly new condition.
If the armature or commutator was fooked that's different
and probably beyond economical repair so a bin job.

I think you will find the old 1990's type CB500 is the same and certainly here in UK they sold maney times more than the CBF500
but used basicly the same engine
Very un usual to see a starter that a commutator clean a set of brushes and some rubber grease on the bearing and o rings will not sort ! ____________________ Dave
