Hi all, I bought a project 1990 Honda cg 125 brj incase of another lockdown. I know the 'project' will be added to the project pile and handy ammunition for the wife when she's running low on argument fodder but I'll never learn.
Anyway, main problem with the little Honda cg 125 is rough running. I have cleaned the carb thoroughly and this seems to have solved the problem. However the main cause is a seriously rusty tank throwing crap into the carb.
I bought some tank cleaner-cleaned it a treat resulting in a tank like a colander.
I bought a Brazil tank but it's way too short. I thought all Honda cg after about 85 were made in Brazil? I was told by wemoto it may be a Japanese model? Apparently longer tanks.
My question after all that preamble is does anyone know where to get a suitable tank or if there is any other tanks that fit from other bikes. All cafe racer/aftermarket tanks seem to be for the Brazil model.

As you've still got the original I'd break out the tape measure and compare to the cheap crap available from eBay & Aliexpress. Bound to be a copy that'll fit.

Ha! Seems to me you have already learned but choose to ignore the negative consequences of your actions. That's perseverance and affirmative thinking. splashcroft, you set a positive example for us all. Bravo! Wink

Thanks for the reply.Seems no knock off tank is the right length. All too short or narrow over the front lugs. Frames not been altered so I can only assume it's the original tank. But will keep checking.

You probably don't want to go quite this far but...

I took a generic, knock-off tank and errr... reshaped it with hammer + mapp gas torch. Then I cut off and redid the front and back mounting points (silver solder is very easy to work with.) Not a neat job but it's all out of sight Smile

Haha, wow extreme. I was hoping for a bolt on alternative. If a Brazil tank would fit it wouldn't be a problem. I think I might just need to adapt a tank to fit. Projects have a habit of growing so I'm not too worried-all fun and games. At least the missus has something else to whinge about other than my apparent loud breathing
