Bluetooth stereo..

OK so if I have a CD/Bluetooth stereo micro system (or what have you )and I want to play Planet Rock how is the sound processed?

e.g. Can I 'stream' into my phone from WiFi using teh PR 'app' then transmit via Bluetooth to the Stereo? Does this rely on the DAC and ADC of my phone being any good? Or does the sound remain 'digital encoded' until it gets to the stereo which then perfoms the DAC?

Never doe this before - have a DAB and a CD player and a turn table.

Yes, to a certain extent it's "all digital" but the audio stream will get translated between the data fed from the radio stream to something the BT speakers would like. How well this all turns out is pot luck but generally the newer the equipment (or more accurately the number of BT profiles supported) the better the quality.

This is where "Smart Speakers" (Alexa, Sonos, etc.) are better as you just tell them which audio stream you'd like and they download it directly cutting out the BT middle-man.

From my experience unless you have a particularly archaic phone the BT chip inside is usually pretty good and will always do its best. The weak point is whatever's in the receiver.

Is this something you already have or you out shopping?
