Hi folks,

Anybody know how to get a valuation on a rare bike - apparently there were only 500 of these made and of those only 65 imported into the UK.

Haven’t seen it; apparently it’s been dry stored, but the engine has been regularly run and it’s in mint condition.

Thanks

No idea beyond the obvious "whatever you can get for it".

Looks like an interesting bike though - https://classic-motorbikes.net/yamaha-1-1-martini-classic-rides-of-the-pre-pensioner/

Sort of thing that should be sold in one of those posh 'classic bike auctions' Bonhams etc..

My guess £5-10k depending on finish 10k for a minter.

I really like the looks. Unmistakeable, and very 1970s.

It's rare, so it's bound to be worth something. There was a gold one featured as a prop in the 1981 movie Riding High.

Cheers folks,

Appreciate the feedback, like I said I haven’t seen it (and having seen THAT photo not sure I want to 😁).

Thanks again.

The xs1100 is curious in that contrary to most Japanese bike engines it turns 'backwards'. The cam chain tensioner is at the front of the engine and the crankshaft turns the opposite rotation to the wheels.

What's it worth? Who knows. Value will be condition dependant and also depend on whether it actually runs. I bought a xj1100 which is the same engine. It had been stood in a garden for 7 years, half-eaten by the owner's alsations and was in a dire state. The carbs were literally seized solid - nothing moved. Took a day of soaking in solvent before I could tease them into moving. I did actually get them working and ran the bike for a good six month or a year before the ignition module packed up.

Tidy (but not mint) XS1100s appear to be fetching 2k5 on ebay (sold listings) . I guess you can double it for the Martini Special.
