Reg.number from VIN?

Hi,
What's the easiest way to get a bikes registration number?
I'm presuming it would be done with the VIN number?
I have had it for years & it was originally used as a parts donor (I stripped off the good plastics & electronics)
it's been lying unloved in my shed for over 15yrs & as the shed is gonna get knocked down & replaced plus I'm never gonna do anything with it, instead of scrapping it, im thinking some of the bits might be of use to someone, however I seem to have misplaced the V5.
I would prefer to get the registration no.1st & if I cant find the old one I will pay the 25 quid for a replacement so I can sell the frame complete & legal..
Can anyone help?
