Warranty servicing

Thought I was getting a very good deal when I bought my scooter with its three year warranty, but checking the service book it requires a service every 2000 miles ! It's going to cost me a bloody fortune to keep it in warranty, requiring a service every couple of months ! Is this normal for bikes/scooters , if so why ?

I'm sure cars are only every 6000 miles between services, my poor car is lucky if it sees a service every other year !

2000 seems very high.

I don't think you have to get it serviced every time to keep the warranty. If you do, don't do it.

Screw the warranty, there not that great anyway. Service it when it needs it.

2k between services could be quite normal on a little scooter, they aren't very well made.
However at that interval a service should be very cheap, probably only an hours labour and the occasional consumable.

Standard interval for car servicing is 10k nowadays, but this isn't a car.

If you drove a car absolutley everywhere with the rev counter on the redline, it would need servicing every two thousand miles too. That is before you take into account the fact that there are very few cars that rev to over 10k rpm.

Scooter engines get the arse knocked out of them for the wole time they are being ridden, as such they need servicing more regularly.

My GPZ needed an oil change every 3,000 miles.
