Hi wondering if anyone can give me any ideas here. I have a Peugeot speedfight 2 everything was going okay nothing mechanically wrong. One day driving down road got about 200m and thing just cut out. It is still running but anytime I try to go anywhere gets 100m and cuts out dead stop almost as if not getting fuel put new carb on and still doing same thing.

I’ve racked my brains on what it could be and I haven’t the slightest clue any help or ideas considered please and thank you

Coil is breaking down when hot.

How the hell have you swapped out a coil within 45 minutes of it being suggested?

It could be something as simple as a blocked fuel filter , either inline or in the tap. Slowly fills up past the blockage then you ride 100m and it stops as it runs out of fuel . Id take the fuel pipe off and see if petrol is pissing out?

There should be a drain screw at the bottom of the carb. Undo that and see how long fuel pisses out for.

It ran for about 20seconds then turned into small dripping

Petrol isn't getting into your carb for some reason.

Vacuum lock in the tank. Does fuel keep draining when you open the fuel filler?

I've tried to google how the fuel system works on these, I'm no clearer. It looks like it's either a vacuum fuel tap, or a vacuum fuel pump. Quite possible that whichever one it has, it's a separate unit to the fuel tank itself connected by a hose, rather than screwed into the tank like a normal vacuum fuel tap.

So, this means it would be possible to disconnect the fuel line from the supply side of the pump/tap and shave fuel piss out, but for nothing to happen on the carb side.

It could also be a sticky float valve on the carb, but this is unlikely because they usually fail open (pissing fuel out of the overflow) and the carb has been replaced.

So that would suggest either a lack of vacuum to the pump/tap (vacuum hose popped off or split), or a really clogged fuel filter. Allows enough through in 20 mins or so to start the bike, but doesn't let enough through to keep it running.

You could open the drain screw and turn the engine over with the starter motor. If it has a vacuum shut off turning it over with the starter should provide the vacuum to keep the fuel flowing.

Suck it. That's to test just the fuel tap. Attach a pipe to the vacuum takeoff of the fuel tap, and suck. Fuel should flow from the outlet.

This is a good suggestion. I once used this method to fill a plastic cup with fuel to aid a stranded rider. Kawasaki EX500
