My bike got nicked from a locked garage with a disklock and chained to wall. they prized the disklock with a screwdriver and cut the chainlock with boltcutters, dont know how they got into my garage. i thought it was professional theives as they were well prepared, but no it turned out to be the local scum who stole it and were seen on CCTV pushing it about 5miles home through town!! The police didnt think to attend this CCTV image...?!?
My bike was recovered, when a local bobby was walking up a footpath leading to a field, looking into complaints of kids offroading, the police got onto the field, the lads bomb-burst and one shot down this alley, hitting the bobby. that got him nicked...
my bike came back, new oil, filters, exhaust can, carb settings and full tank of fuel, so it was in better nick then when the kids stole it in the first place!!

Not an insurance approved chain i hasten to add, just an old chain off a small dinghy anchor. it was for a deterrant more than anything else, after all i relied on the disklock and the fact it was locked in a garage to prevent theiving. I suppose if they want it that badly, they'll take it.

The almax series III's are just as good at stopping manual attacks, only difference between III and IV's [apart from the price] is the IV last a minute or two longer against angle grinders, so if you're not worried about that you might as well save some cash and get a III.
If they're able to get away with a couple of minutes angle grinding a III i've always figured they'll be able to take another minute or two and get though a IV regardless |

Its better then several grand for a new bike. i was teenage reckless and never thought my bikes would get nicked. After all, it was at the back of a double garage, in view from the back of the house and past several security lights, but it went. Either the kids didnt care about getting caught or knew they would get away with it. I was very angry at the time as it had a race exhaust, 21mm carb and 50/70cc kit on it. But they treated it very well, only had to replace the numberplate, they looked after it, apart from hitting a copper with it, the police recovered it within a few days, but stuck it in storage and forgot to inform me for several months. then tried to charge me storage fees! I refused and complained and they just gave the bike back with an apology. i was on my NSR125 by this point.
