Sorry if this has come up before.

I'm looking to buy some bike boots that are relatively cheap so I stop getting paranoid about my laces getting caught. I tuck them in my shoe but they just come out.
What would be the least amount of money you'd spend on a pair?
Also, I dunno if it's a good idea to get that kind of thing off eBay?

Thanks.

Off ebay? Why not....I would....If I got my arse into gear and actually bought some.

Either ebay or go into a shop. There is no minimum amount I would spend, however, decent toe and ankle protections is a must for myself so wouldn't buy anything with less Thumbs Up

I got a £70 pair of boots from Hein Gerikke.

I went out looking for boots for less than £100, that would give me good protection (ankle etc), quick and easy to get on (dad spends 5 minutes doing his boots up!) and I could wear comfortably when not on the bike.

These boots fitted perfectly into every category. I'm considering getting some "riding shoes" for the summer - but went off the idea a little when I saw the £100 price tag in Hein Gerikke.

Cheapest new ones I've seen are about £50.
I dunno if used boots would have as much protection but I think they go for a round £30 odd.

i would say go for ebay, but stick with known brands. This size isn't overly important like helmets, as you can just put on another pair of sock, or insert insoles ect. But make sure you get a sizer larger, rather than small, e.g. your feet size are 8.5 go for 9.

I got £90 boots from eBay for £23, they were in mind condition, very little sign on wear and fitted me perfect. I've got about 6k out of them and they're still going strong.

I'm a size 6 so in terms of boots and wanting them to last a while, I guess they'd need to be a 7.

When it comes to your own protection, personally i'd want something strong, not cheap.

However, you'll probably find something on Ebay which is both.

TIP - try some boots on at a motorcycle shop. Pretend interested, note the size and make down. Then search the net for the same product but cheaper. Very Happy

They are black.
Give me a few mins.

Thanks for that link. The boots on there seem to be pretty good. Hope they'll last as I probably won't bother to change them into normal shoes when I get to college.

Thanks for all your help. Will probably go to M and P, or MPS I think it is now and try a couple on.

Thumbs Up

Akito make good cheap stuff, ideal for beginners.
I found their boot sizes were equivalent to shoe sizes.
Suggest the Monza boots or if you want something shorter then try the Miami ones.

A quick search on eBay got this result, or this result just for Miami boots.

HTH Thumbs Up

Tank bag £16.99
Bike boots £24.99
Kidney belt £2.99
Rain suit £9.99
Gloves £12.99
