FZR timing chain rattle?

The FZR has a rattle from cold. Any idea's anyone?

Sounds like it, hold your hand over the noisy exhaust to get a better idea, it'll quieten the din and highlight any leaks.

Ear on the end of a screwdriver pressed against different parts of the engine will help you pinpoint the area.

Typically fzr engines drop a valve once between 10k and 40k miles so theres no chance of the cam chain wearing out.

Sounds like a loose exhaust clamp.

However, I must commend your bravery for admitting to owning that. I would have quietly sold it to someone from 1995.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I don't mind the look of that, there's some things I would change, but it's OK.

Anyway, as others have said, that not a timing chain rattle, it's a loose clamp or something, go over the whole bike with a set of spanners and sockets and nip up everything there is to nip up.

Any bike is better than no bike. It's just had the carbs rebuilt, it goes rather well, I like the paint job, unique. The Ohlins rear shock helps it handle well, it's an enjoyable ride.

I could not tell from the camera angle if those are the OEM down pipes or not.On my Exup-R the powervalve has some loose bearings but yours sound as though they need replacing.Problem is,they are very expensive for what they are,so it is worth seeking someone who could make some new ones from phospher-bronze.

Have you rebalanced the carbs after they were cleaned?Simple enough to do if you have the gauges etc
