Allen Millyard.

Absolute legend for the last couple of decades, has made some mental stuff (V12 from 2x Z1300's? Check) His Viper will blow your mind. The V-Twin he made based on Aero Engine cylinders is amazing in person, he arrived at Bikefest as we were in that particular room and my daugghters jaw dropped.

Yep.

Also Millyard has made a tonne of more interesting bikes than a 3 into a four. He's done fives, sixes... all sorts. One of his best was a 6 built from 2x FZR250 engines to build a Honda 6 cylinder replica. It sounded extraordinary.

Why do we ride anything other than Superdreams? Pointless, they're perfectly functional motorcycles.

You may not like it, as I fucking hate modern attempts at ' Cafe Racers' hacking up otherwise decent bikes, but it's not pointless. I'd suggest turning a triple into a 4, 5 or 6 cyl bike is about as pointed as you get. It's a solid, fixed idea that's executed well.

Nearly all pursuits are ultimately waste of time..think golf! Millyard's videos are, intriguing educational and oddly relaxing. On balance any reserves of engine parts used are worth it. I'm sure many more are wasted by the less talented. On his flying Millyard he made his own crank/webs even the carburetor!

The 'point' of it is explained neatly in his interview. His projects and methods serve to showcase the fact to the normal person that even the most unlikely ideas are possible with only a modest toolset. He provides insight and inspiration with real-world examples and unambiguous instruction in a modest and self-effacing manner that is truly refreshing in these days of over-hyped TV and youtube attention-seekers.

He has the stuff that the likes of Wallis and Mitchell were made of. People not to be told it 'cannot be done'. Well worth the scrapping of a couple of cranks and barrels which would likely end up in someone's front room nowadays anyway.
