I didn't see it. Were they referring to trail riders?
Countryfile always seemed like a very sanitised view of rural life. Like nothing ever dies on Adam's Farm, and there's no mud.

They went up onto parts of the black mountains and slagged off trial biking, then mentioned illegal off roaders, then said fuck all else. Just kitten killers killing kittens again! No context, just spoddy ramblers being cunts.

I missed that?
I try not to watch countryfile for the reasons alluded to above.

It’s got very sanitised and doffs it’s hat to tree-hugging leftists and trendy new money hooray Henry’s/Tabitha’s.

It's the country made interesting for townies, that's it.

Farms that have refugee children coming to meat, sorry meet the nice animals.

Someone who makes their own cheese.

How all the lovely farmers are leaving six square feet for nature so should be genuflected to.

It's a PR programme for the rich cvnts in their Range Rovers who really are really really hard up, honest guv. Oh yes, and need those hard working eastern European labourers because they work so hard (and are cheap) and British are lazy (and expensive).

The name of the show is a portmanteau of cunt and paedophile, what do you expect?

It's only a matter of time before the allegations Craven.

When they cover articles like course fishing in a balanced way and not just a leftist viewpoint.
And an article about run off pollution by farmers using to much fertiliser.
And an article about destruction of habit & green areas by greedy developers.
And a shooting article in a balanced way and not just a leftist viewpoint.
And an article about wildlife/conservation trusts denying access to the public to large areas of the countryside unless you’re in the clique/rich.
And an article about green lanning in a balanced way and not just a leftist viewpoint.
Or an article about shipping in British waters, baling thier waste and then dumping it overboard at night under the cover of darkness and how that is having an effect on sea life.

If I want to get trendy nouveau cheeses made from llamas milk, I can go to my local (very expensive) farm shop, I don’t need to watch a programme about it.

Countryfile is not really a farming program, although there is that nice ginger farmer on it a lot.

Real farmers are not very environmentally aware, they will leave set-aside and conservation strips if and when they are paid to do so by the EU (or HMG in future) their focus is on providing cheap food either direct to supermarkets or in the form of feed wheat to (other) cattle farmers.

If the housewife wants cheap grub (and they do) then the farmers can provide, but it comes at an environmental cost. Food cost as a percentage of income is a fraction of what it was 40 years ago. Food is cheap, cheap, cheap!

You pays your money etc..

BTW anyone ever bought a roasting chicken in France? Easily double the money if not more - ask yourself why?

She was, but I wouldn't refuse Ellie Harrison a munch on my cockerel.

A basic chicken in Sainsburys comes in 3 different sizes, and you can pay perhaps £3.80 for a large one. Apparently a basic chicken is labelled differently for the different supermarkets in which it's sold, but it's all from the same industrial farming supply houses. What confuses me is there are so many other types of chicken in the same shop. You can pay £16 or £17 for a different type of chicken ("organic") in Sainsburys. A lot of shelf space is devoted to all sorts of chicken types, and most of it's for the expensive ones. Therefore, people must be buying them (not me). I don't really trust the chicken we get here, so I only eat it on a rare occasion. The cheap ones have white flesh. Obviously, nothing natural about it, so I keep my consumption down to a rare occasion.

I have watched Countryfile recently, and my impression is that it doesn't reflect how things actually are, out in the countryside and on the farms. It seems obvious that actual country people wouldn't watch a programme like Countryfile, so who's watching it? Townspeople, I would assume. What does it show? Not much - just a lot of commentary, some seemingly idyllic scenes, and lots and lots of talk. They will interview so-and-so who says that it's so important to preserve a certain species of moth found only in a remote corner off the coast of Wales. It's so important, that it's vitally important that riff-raff be not permitted to enter the area. If you are a riff-raff, write to the government right now to make sure it's fenced off forevermore, and the public loses its right of way over it. The worst of all possible outcomes is that riff-raff from the towns should come along and visit....

Just seems to be a persistent metanarrative in Countryfile.

Of which £5 out of £9.95 goes to children in need. Wow, Thank you BBC.

And the rest goes into the beebs coffers to pay for their bonuses. Rolling Eyes

Recman, I record it for the same reason. Pick what kit I need for the week. They really do like to hammer anyone who doesn't grow seaweed in their hot tub for environmental harmony!

I saw that. As if someone from a developing country has never seen an animal before. They can probably slaughter, gut and butcher most animals without batting an eyelid.

Id' be more worried about our native brats who don't understand a chicken nugget comes from an animal!
