Have the above bike and it's been in storage for the last year or so, brought it out recently and it doesn't start. It cranks over Theres spark on both plugs and there's fuel in the carb bowls. Compression test shows 125 psi on each cylinder, have squirted some cold start into the airbox and when I pulled the plugs squirted some fuel into each cylinder and still it won't start. Is this a fuel or electric issue? can't seem to work it out the plugs are dry when I pulled them and I've cleaned the carbs, battery is fully charged. Would gratefully appreciate any replies or advice to get it going.

Hi, was the cold start a fine spray or a squirt? Did you remove the air filter to do it? Were all the jets (pilot, main, choke) clear to see through?
Is there a potato stuck in the exhaust end ?

Fresh fuel?

How far did you dismantle the carburetors? Did you screw everything back in as it was before?

You say you have spark, is it strong? Fresh spark plugs? The iginition is electronic so I guess the ignition timing should be perfect.

Did you clean the idle speed jets/paths in the carburetors? Stuck choke?

Yep fresh fuel was used I pressure washed the tank out and the carbs were completely dismantled, the choke slides were removed and cleaned also as well as inside the carb were they sit. Who ever had the bike before me had left the old petrol in and it had turned to varnish. So I thoroughly cleaned everything and even bought a spare set of carbs and cleaned them and put them on but still have the same problem as for the spark there both nice and blue so i presume there OK.

Find the service manual specific to your bike and check everything (carburetors) is set to the factory default settings and then go from there.

Kill switch is in the run position?

Try pulling the clutch in as you start it.

EDIT: have you tried new plugs in it? Try new plugs in it.

Pull air filter check it not filthy or wet
Try without
Try with easy Start
If runs on easy start but not otherwise carb / fuel system issue this is what iI would suspect !
I had at least a dozern CB500's of that type 2 personal rides 3 loan bikes and other bourt fixed sold !

Did you pressure wash the inside of the tank?

Drain each carb and make sure you have petrol in there and not just water.
