This is a "slow" video, but there are some very nice ideas and techniques in it. I actually have one of the same ones (same colour, too)!

Okay, so I have to ask: the thing with the rims. Some sort of ghetto zinc electro-plating?

The zinc-plating method is a known way of plating large items, or just small areas of an er, larger item. You can buy the kits 'locally', from Casswell, Gateros, Frost and others.

Clever stuff, by the guy doing the video. I think the copper plating was electro-less, which is also interesting.

Most of the rest of it made sense. Certainly the clean-up by hand of some of the less easily replaced fixings resonates with the ol' DT.

That masking strip on the side of the sidecar... made it look as easy breathing Shocked

I am not sure why he copper-plated that shroud (mine is chromed, admittedly with copper between the chrome and the steel). Copper, once holed, is a positive (?! Smile ) aid to the corrosion process. Still, as a process, it was interesting.
